Determine if your Blackboard installation is hosted by your institution (on-premise or self-hosted) or hosted by Blackboard (cloud or SaaS). You may need to contact your campus Blackboard administrator in order to verify this information.
If your institution's Blackboard installation is run from Blackboard's cloud/SaaS platform, please see Blackboard's documentation regarding utilization of building blocks in SaaS.
Submit a request to our Support team or call (716.270.0000) requesting Blackboard integration (please include whether your installation is hosted on-premise or via SaaS) for Beacon, Evaluate or Baseline Rubrics.

Outcomes Integration Instructions
The Outcomes Integration with Blackboard will allow for pulling the Blackboard gradebook data directly into the Outcomes tool. Please follow the instructions below to add this application to Blackboard.
To enable the Outcomes LMS Integration:
- An Outcomes site admin needs to navigate to: Settings > General Settings.
- Enable - “Individual Student Scores and Rubrics”
- Click on the check box for LMS and follow the 2 steps provided
- Retrieve the Application ID from the Instructions
Once you have the application ID, have your LMS Admin sign into Blackboard and complete the following:
From System Admin> Rest API Integrations:
- Add the Application ID provided by Anthology
- Add a Learn User (it is recommended that you select a test student that is not enrolled in any courses)
- Send End user Access to ‘Yes’

Rubrics – Blackboard Ultra Integration Instructions
also compatible with Blackboard Learn
The Rubrics-Blackboard REST integration will allow for pulling Blackboard course data (courses, assignments, students, instructors) directly into the Rubrics tool. Once students are assessed in Rubrics, their scores can be synced back to the Blackboard gradebook. Follow the instructions below:
- Campus provides Anthology with their Blackboard domain URL (e.g. campuslabs-demo.blackboard.com) and ExternalIdIdentifier (e.g. email, username, externalid)
- Once the info from Step 1 is provided, an Anthology employee must go to https://rubrics.campuslabs.com/management. From there, search for and select the institution, then click the LMS Credentials button. Fill out the fields with the data provided by the campus and click Save.
- Next, the campus LMS Administrator will need to go into Blackboard > System Admin > REST API Integrations > Create Integration:
- Enter Application Id 38467fd1-d15a-41e8-a6ad-67be628b8b11
- Add a Learn User (we recommend using the ‘guest’ user that comes with Blackboard)
- Set Available to ‘Yes’
- Set End User Access to ‘Yes’
- Set Authorized To Act As User to `Service Default (No)’

Configuring the LTI for Blackboard Ultra
Blackboard Ultra configurations do not use the building block. Ultra configuration utilize an LTI connection in place of the building block.
LTI Tool Providers to Add
- Go to Register Provider Domain
- Input federation.campuslabs.com as the Provider Domain
- Select Approved for Provider Domain Status
- Check Set Globally under Default Configuration
- Set Tool Provider Key as <Key provided by Anthology Support>
- Set Tool Provider Secret as <Secret provided by Anthology Support>
- Set Send User Data to Send user data over any connection
- Under User Fields to Send check the following options: Role in Course, Name, Email Address
- Click Submit
LTI Tool Availability
- Go to Courses
- Select a course and go to Customization -> Tool Availability on the Course Management menu
- Scroll to the LTI tool and check Available
- Click Submit
Adding LTI Links
- Go to Courses
- Select a course and go to Content -> Build Content -> Web Link
- Input the name for the link (Data Management, Course Evaluations Admin, etc.)
- Set the URL to one of the following:
- Evaluate: https://federation.campuslabs.com/lti?realm=https://{{institutiondomain}}/courseval/
- Beacon: https://federation.campuslabs.com/lti?realm=https://{{institutiondomain}}/beacon
- Beacon Notations: https://federation.campuslabs.com/lti?realm=https://{{institutiondomain}}/beaconv2/widget/Notation
- Check This is a link to a Tool Provider
- Click Submit
- Repeat Steps 1-6 for any links that will be needed for the campus.
Testing Links
- Go to Courses
- Select the course the LTI links were added to and go to the Content section
- Click on the LTI link to launch and verify that connection works as expected.

Installing the Campus Labs Building Block for Blackboard
Portions of the instructions below were adapted from Blackboard support documentation and may not cover all versions of Blackboard Learn. Please consult Blackboard Support for general questions about generic Building Block installation and Module deployment.
- Log in to your institution’s Blackboard site with an account that has system administrator-level access
- Go to System Admin -> Building Blocks section -> Building Blocks
- Click “Installed Tools”
- Click “Upload Building Blocks"
- Download the Campus Labs Building Block to a location on your computer

- In Blackboard click “Browse” and select the Building Block .WAR file from the location to which you downloaded the file above
- Click “Submit” to upload the .WAR file to Blackboard Learn
- Click “OK” to go back to the Building Blocks page
- To enable the Building Block, hover over the Campus Labs Building Block row, click on the menu icon, and select “Set Available”
- Click “Approve” to make the Building Block available and allow it to use the listed permissions.
- Return to the “System Admin” page, click on “Campus Labs Building Block” in the “Tools and Utilities” section, then enter the following information:
- Domain Name: https://yourschool.campuslabs.com - Provided by Campus Labs staff (Do NOT put a trailing slash on the end of the domain)
- Campus Key: Enter the full name of your institution
- Campus Secret: Enter GUID provided by Anthology staff
- Click “Submit” and your installation will be complete
* Please note: If your institution runs Blackboard on a server that does NOT have the latest sub-version of Java 1.7, then you will need to download and apply the following two root certificates to the Blackboard server in order for the Campus Labs Building Block to successfully connect to Campus Labs data sources using the required SSL certificates.

Baseline Rubrics Additional Steps
Now that the building block is in place follow the additional steps below to complete the Baseline Rubrics integration.
*Please note that by default you must have “Faculty” set as one of your Blackboard Primary or Secondary Institutional Roles in order to add and access the Course Sync module from within your course site. Your Blackboard Administrator can configure Course Sync to support additional roles by navigating to System Admin -> Tabs and Modules -> Modules -> selecting “Edit Properties” for Campus Labs Course Sync and then adjusting role access for the module.
- Determine the Anthology Identifier within Blackboard. The Anthology Identifier within Blackboard should match the Person Identifier that you chose when setting up authentication. This identifier will either be the Blackboard Username, Blackboard Id or Student Id.
- Once your Anthology contact has confirmed that the designated individuals have been given access to create API keys, at least one such individual must go to https://school.campuslabs.com/keymanagement/ (where “school” is replaced with our institution’s Campus Labs domain name and create one API web key for the LMS integration you are about to set up.
- When adding a key, the user can enter any information they wish in the Name and Description fields, but *must* select the following values:
- Key Function: Read / Write
- Key Access: LMS
- Once you generate the keys, go to the "Campus Labs Building Block Management" link under 'Tools and Utilities' from the System Admin Page. Enter your Campus Labs Data Sync Credentials.
- The Client ID: Sync OAuth Client Id
- Client Secret: Sync OAuth Client Secret
- Navigate to the course site in which you wish to use the Course Sync module for Blackboard.
- Turn “Edit Mode” on for the course site.
- Click the “Add Course Module” button.Find the “Campus Labs Course Sync” module and click the “Add” button.
- The Campus Labs Course Sync module for Blackboard should now appear on the bottom of the main course site page and can be used to synchronize assignment data or launch Anthology Rubrics.

Beacon Quick Update Additional Steps
Once you've configured the Building Block you’ll need to create a Module(s) using the Type that is generated through the Building Block. Here are some instructions for Bb version 9.1:
- Go to the Administrator Panel.
- Click Manage Modules on the Administrator Panel.
- Click Add Module in the action bar at the top of the page.
- Enter a title, select “Beacon Alerts Link” type, and description.
- Select a settings for:
- System Availability (is the module available system-wide?),
- Select from module list (does the module appear to Users as a module they can add or remove from Module Tabs?), and
- Allow Personalization (can Users modify the content of the module?).
- Make the module available to Everyone or Specific Roles.
- Enter the usernames of any users that will be assigned to manage the content of the module. If no users are entered, only users with Administrator privileges that include managing the Portal will be able to manage the content of the module.
- Click Submit to create the module.
- The Module Content page specific to the Beacon Alerts Link type should open.
- Define the content for the module including which parts of the module you’d like active, or click Submit to add the content at another time. From the Manage Module page, click Contents for a module to edit the content. If users are assigned to manage the content of a module, they can edit the content from any Module Tab where the module appears. This allows you to tailor the custom text to specific audiences if you wish.

Evaluate Student Access Link Additional Steps
