A manual import process is available to do one-off, small, corrective imports into our systems. Manual imports should not be considered a mechanism for prolonged, regular data importing.
Imports that are manually imported need to be less than 20 megabytes.
Importing Account Data
- Log into your institution’s Data Management site.
- Click the Import Data button under User Accounts.
- Use the Accounts template found here to format your data correctly. There is also a “Download Sample CSV files” link on the import page which will also take you to the same documentation.
- Once the file is properly formatted and saved as .csv file, click the Browse button and select your Accounts file.
- Click the Verify button. This will tell the system to process the data, and check for any issues before user accounts are added to any Anthology applications. No data will be added to the Data Management site.
- Check the Import History area at the bottom of the screen to be sure there are no errors in your file. If there are errors, review the error file and correct those rows in your complete file.
- When you are ready to import the file, repeat step 4, and then click the Upload button to add the user accounts to the system.
- Check the Import History area once more to confirm the file was uploaded successfully. If the file is successful after clicking the Upload button, then your user accounts will be available in the application you need to use.
Importing Course Data
- Log into your institution’s Data Management site
- Click the Import Data button under Courses.
- Use the appropriate template found here to format your data correctly. You will also see a “Download Sample CSV files” link on the import page which will also take you to the same documentation.
- You must select the type of data (Data Type) you are importing, in addition to uploading the file. The system then runs checks to ensure that the data type you are importing matches the data in the file. Note that the Data Type dropdown is listed in the order that the files must be imported.
- Once the file is properly formatted and saved as .csv file, click the Browse button and select your Accounts file.
- Click the Verify button. This will tell the system to process the data, and check for any issues before user accounts are added to any Anthology applications. No data will be added to the Data Management site.
- Check the Import History area at the bottom of the screen to be sure there were no errors in your file. If there were errors, review the error file and correct those rows in your complete file.
- When you are ready to import the file, repeat step 4, and then click the Upload button to add the data to the system.
- Check the Import History area once more to confirm the file was uploaded successfully.
- If the file is successful after clicking the Upload button, then your course-type data will be available in the application you need to use.
Viewing your data
If you would like to see what data exists in the Data Management site, navigate to the appropriate data type (User Accounts, or Courses) and select the “View/Export Data” option. Your data will be presented in tables which you can then export as needed.
