Campus Labs connects to campus authentication systems in order to identify and credential users. This means that campus users will log into Campus Labs using their campus username and password. The centerpiece of each method is a secure transmission of a unique identifier for a user upon a successful granting of credentials. Some of the supported protocols also allow for the passing of additional attributes from a directory or other campus system.
Single sign-on (SSO) is a service that permits a user to use one set of login credentials (e.g., name and password) to access multiple applications. SSO is used to increase productivity and strengthen security.
Campuses need to identify an Authentication Coordinator on campus to complete and maintain the authentication process. Please use this guide to help identify the proper personnel.
Once identified, the Authentication Coordinator can view detailed technical resources and guides on our Technical Resource page and they should work to complete the Authentication Integration worksheet.
The Authentication Coordinator will work with a Campus Labs Technical Specialist to complete the process.
If started right away, Authentication can be completed quickly. The average completion time is 2-3 weeks. Please communicate your timelines and expectations with your Authentication Manager.
